Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to all content published under https://en.strahlenzentrum-hamburg.de.

Legal Basis

As a provider of digital services pursuant to Section 1 (2) No. 3 of the German Accessibility Reinforcement Act (BFSG), we are obligated to make our website accessible. The relevant standards are the EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.

Accessibility Status

The website is currently partially accessible. The requirements of EN 301 549 are met in many areas. However, some content and technical components are still under review or in planning.

Accessibility Evaluation

The accessibility of the website was assessed through an internal self-evaluation based on the WCAG 2.1 AA and EN 301 549 guidelines. The most recent review was conducted in June 2025. Additional evaluations are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025.

Non-accessible Content and Planned Improvements

Some content on our website is not yet fully accessible. We are actively working on improvements and provide the following overview of affected areas, the planned measures, and the targeted completion dates:

Videos

The embedded videos on our website already include subtitles and written transcripts. Full audio descriptions are currently not implemented. However, the provided transcripts comprehensively reflect all audiovisual content and therefore serve as an accessible alternative to audio descriptions for the time being. An assessment of whether additional measures are required will take place as part of the next accessibility review by November 30, 2025.

Images and Graphics

Not all images and graphical content have been fully reviewed for appropriate alternative text (ALT text). Some visuals have already been supplemented, but a comprehensive check and update is still pending.

Due to technical limitations, it is currently not possible to suppress the output of ALT attributes for purely decorative images. As a result, an ALT attribute is displayed for all images by default, even if the content carries no semantic meaning. We are currently reviewing whether and how this can be technically distinguished in the future.

A full review and, where necessary, revision of alternative texts is scheduled to be completed by October 31, 2025.

PDF Documents

Various PDF documents are available for download throughout our website. These have not yet undergone a systematic accessibility review. It is therefore possible that some files do not fully meet the requirements for accessible PDF structure. A comprehensive audit and, if necessary, revision of these documents is planned. Our aim is to gradually revise existing PDFs or replace them with accessible versions. This process is expected to be completed by October 31, 2025.

Forms and HTML Structure

Our forms have been revised for accessibility. They now include labeled fields, a logical focus order, and keyboard operability. However, not all areas of the overall HTML structure (e.g. semantic markup, role definitions) have been fully reviewed yet. These aspects will be assessed and improved as part of an upcoming technical update of our content management system. The planned completion date is December 31, 2025.

Color Contrast and Visual Design

Some text elements, icons, and buttons currently do not meet the recommended contrast ratios as defined in WCAG 2.1 AA. A systematic update of the color palette and a clearer visual distinction of interactive elements is currently in planning. These adjustments are expected to be finalized by September 30, 2025.

Statement Status

This statement was created on June 26, 2025 and last updated on the same date.
